Health:
“Can’t It Just Be Fun?”

Our health seems like
such a constant issue, doesn’t it? Yet, babies don’t
give a thought to it and they are just healthy – unless something
unnatural occurs for them. Then, of course, health would need to
be a focus until that could get handled effectively.
Generally speaking, though,
if we are unhealthy it’s probably from several habits we have
found ourselves with so that healthy choices are not as natural
as breathing. Just remember, breathing wouldn’t be natural
either if we did not have our environment set so it is conducive
to health breathing.
Ooops. I guess it’s
transparent where I’m headed with this now… : )
Let’s take a look
at our natural environment for food. When you are looking for a
quick snack, do you have boxes of raisins and raw peanuts in the
pantry? Or do you have a bag of chips and salsa awaiting you there?
When you go to the freezer for a scoop of ice cream, is it REAL
ice cream or artificial this and artificial that?
What if you only had
the real things available? The real and healthy snacks are just
as yummy as the unhealthy ones. Sweet potato soufflé or banana
pudding are as sweet as any cinnamon roll could be and at least
have SOME nutrition to them.
Ah, but what is the cause
of the choices we have set up for ourselves? We could just as easily
buy wheat crackers as any other kind, couldn’t we? We are
conditioned for the unhealthy stuff. It reminds me of our sweet
beagle, Lucy. She is totally innocent to what we allow her to put
in her mouth. Had she never tasted a cracker, she would not know
she even liked it. If all we gave her was healthy dog food, she
would be just as content. But once the door is open to the other
tasty human food that’s not good for her, she WANTS IT!
I was once on the Atkins
Diet for a while and between meals occasionally thought I wouldn’t
like what I was about to eat. It was always something so good for
me. Then, when I would put that food in my mouth, it was SO DELICIOUS!
It was then that I realized I like healthy food just as much as
I like unhealthy food.
So, now what stops me
from eating healthy? I haven’t set my environment so “healthy”
IS my choice!
Are you the same way?
If so, what is the root cause of it all? Lack of discipline, lack
of belief? Lack of commitment to your own well-being? Lack of energy?
Lazy?
Notice the word “lack”
above? Have you ever noticed how when you are in a mental state
of abundance, it seems like ALL things are possible and you have
the “world on a string” so to speak?
Maybe your mental state
is the place to start… Now that’s “food”
for thought! LOL
